Filipino Food in Didsbury – Mama Z Filipino Kitchen
Finally trying Filipino food in Didsbury 🇵🇭
Mama Z Filipino Kitchen in Didsbury opened not long after I moved away, and I’d been meaning to try it ever since, so I finally made it! Filipino food is still quite a new cuisine for me, so I’m excited to explore more. I noticed a lot of dishes lean on a slightly sour note from vinegar, either in braised dishes or as a dip, which makes them feel balanced and refreshing.

The ukoy (Filipino fritter) was so crispy and light, and it went so well with their banana ketchup. Highly recommend it if you spot it on the specials menu.
Their most popular dish, sisig, is traditionally made with pork, but here you can choose different options, and we went for chicken. My only regret was not ordering extra rice, because it was so moreish and flavourful!

Last but not least, the chicken adobo was rich and savoury, just one of those dishes you can’t really go wrong with.

They also stock some Filipino ingredients and snacks. I’ll definitely be back to try their noodle dishes and desserts next time; the ube cake and ube ice cream look really tempting 👀
