Cantonese Char Siu Recipe

Cantonese Char Siu Recipe

Char siu is simpler to make than you’d think 🍖

I always thought it would be quite a hassle to make char siu, but it turns out it’s relatively simple once you have the marinade, which you can find in most Asian supermarkets.

Once you know how to make char siu, it’s super handy since it can be eaten with rice, noodles or even in a bao, so definitely give it a try if you have the time!

Instructions

  1. 1The day before, marinate the pork with all the ingredients except the honey.
  2. 2Place the pork on a wire rack and roast in the oven for 15 minutes at 200°C (fan).
  3. 3Flip the pork over and roast for another 10 minutes at the same temperature.
  4. 4Take the meat out and brush it all over with some of the leftover marinade. Turn the oven up to 220°C (fan) and roast for 5 more minutes.
  5. 5Mix a little honey with the marinade, brush the meat again and roast for another 3 minutes.

Start this the day before you want to eat it, as the pork needs a day in the marinade.
