Easy 30 Minute Soy Sauce Chicken Recipe

A super easy soy sauce chicken for a weekday meal 🍗

It’s been a while since I’ve done a recipe, but I knew I had to share this soy sauce chicken as it’s super easy and perfect for a weekday meal! It only takes about 30 minutes.

All you need are some chicken legs, brown sugar and soy sauce, and the rest of the ingredients are pretty much optional. You can swap the brown sugar and crystal sugar for normal sugar if you don’t have those at home.

I also like adding some bay leaves and cassia, to give the chicken some extra flavour.

Once the chicken is cooked, you can either tear it into pieces or serve it whole, with all that sauce spooned over the top.

  2. 2Add the chicken legs to the pan and turn them until they’re lightly browned.
  3. 3Put the ginger and shallots back in, then add the soy sauce, crystal sugar, brown sugar, bay leaves and cassia.
  4. 4Pour in the water, bring to a boil and put on a lid. Simmer for about 15 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through.
  5. 5Take off the lid and let the sauce bubble until it’s thick and glossy, spooning it over the chicken.
  6. 6Serve the chicken whole or tear it into pieces, spoon over the sauce, and finish with sesame seeds and spring onion.
